Beyond the borders

Nearby Slovenia and Croatia are the perfect destination for one-day (or longer) trips. These countries host beautiful cities, ancient villages and castles, beaches with crystal clear water. Our reception staff is always available to book your day trips both in Slovenia and in Croatia.

LJUBLJIANA

Slovenia’s capital is a Mitteleuropean city set between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, crossed by the rivers Sava and Ljubljanica. The city of Ljubljana has nothing to envy to other modern capitals, but at the same time it surprises visitors with its friendly and relaxed atmosphere that reminds a small town.

You can reach it by car (see FAQ section) or by international bus.

POSTOJNA CAVES

It is an intricate, 20 km long system of caves and halls made of calcareous concretions, that visitors can explore by foot and via a special train. Yet the real star of Postojna caves is the olm, a little and delicate aquatic animal that lives in the dark.

You can reach the Caves by car (see FAQ section) or by international bus.

PIRAN

Piran is a picturesque city on Slovenian Istria’s west coast, and also an important maritime, cultural and touristic centre. Piran’s most famous citizen was the composer and violinist Giuseppe Tartini, born there in 1692.

You can reach the city via the hydrofoil service run by Triestelines during the summer months.

ROVINJ

Rovinj, 95 km from Trieste, is Istria’s touristic centre together with Porec and Umag, and the most romantic town in all the region.

You can reach the city by international bus and via the hydrofoil service run by Triestelines during the summer months.

PULA

Pula is Istria’s main centre, whose history dates back to more than 3000 years. Visitors can admire the well preserved Roman arena, located near the harbour, the indented coastline and coves, and the beaches with their crystal clear sea.

You can reach the city by international bus and via the hydrofoil service run by Triestelines during the summer months.

POREC

First built as a Roman colony, Porec combines Roman style architecture with stunning Venetian Gothic buildings. The promenade along these buildings is a unique experience, and do not forget to visit the Basilica complex, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
